Master Bedroom
The three photographs above the Dansu are by Cliff
Baker and are abstracts of sand and water. These are fascinating
compositions depicting patterns made by the ebb and flow of the seawater
over sand and mineral deposits. Like clouds in
the sky, these random patterns resemble tangible objects. The first one
on the left is titled ‘Sandpattern
- 4’, and has a bird-wing feel to it. The middle one is ‘Sandpattern
- 8’, and could almost be a part of the human body. The last on
the right is ‘Sandpattern
- 3’ which resembles a mermaid tail.
Whatever you see in them, they impart a dreamy calm into the bedroom,
while sparking the imagination.
The Dansu below the photos is new and was purchased from a store in
Japan Town which offers custom details and materials as well as sizes.
Though there were many complimentary pieces that go with this Dansu,
there were no
nightstands that were just right, so I drew up what we wanted,
and the same traditional craftsmen were commissioned to make them to our
specifications.
