Foyer
Guests are greeted in the foyer, which is open to the
Dining Room, by the 5 foot tall “Garlands”
photograph by Clifton Albergotti. The ruffled tendrils of the jellyfish
spill over the figure in the bottom foreground, as they float in the
inky black. The graphic formality of the black and white photo,
compliments the previously painted warm and earthy colors in this room.
Guests are encouraged to remove their shoes and store
them in the custom armoire. Made of Maple and Walnut it features such
details as oversized finger-joints on the drawer, and the 1” reveal
around the burl wood doors. This detail keeps the front clean while
removing the need for handles. The little windows in the doors show
individual hand paintings, their floral pattern inspired by a design the
client loved. The
armoire’s interior has hand applied silver leaf. The eighteenth
century carved wood, winged dragon on top is from Bali.
In the hallway beyond is a Tansu designed to follow the
descent of the stairs.
